“I have a question about something…”

We’ve had a few questions come in about our courses, so we put them together in a Frequently Asked Questions/FAQ format

(well, the nice questions anyway) 🙂

Are the courses online or are you mailing them to us?

All of our courses are online.

Why is that?  I like having something physical.

A few reasons;

1) To keep costs down.

It’s no secret that postage has gone through the roof, and considering how many artists are buying around the world, the international postage is atrocious.  It’s not that we’re being cheap – online still has hosting and delivery costs – but in this new enlightened age we couldn’t justify having to charge you more just to hand it to the Post Office.

2)  It’s fast.

Mail isn’t getting any faster, especially international. There’s no real reason to make artists wait a week or more for their courses. From checkout to watching the first video can be as little as a couple of minutes!

3)  It’s more environmentally sound.

No packaging waste. No CDs or DVDs to burn. No fuel for planes and trucks to get it to you.

4) Convenience

You can access your course anywhere you can access the internet; on a phone, on a tablet, desktop, laptop, at home, at work, on a bus, the subway, even on a plane. No need for a CD or DVD player. No need to be chained to a computer or have to watch in the living room. I personally fought it for years, but I have to admit that having all of my music as a file I can play anywhere is a lot more convenient than having to change CDs.  Or tapes. If you’re under 30 have someone explain that to you…  😉

What’s included in the courses?

Our courses are video-based, but we also include the audio portion of each video as a separate file so you can download them and listen on any MP3 player. We also include transcripts, and in some cases a manual in PDF form.  These can also be downloaded and even printed off and put in a binder if you prefer.

I live in a rural area, will I still be able to watch the videos on a slow download?

Hard to say in every case, but if you can watch YouTube, there’s no reason you can’t watch our videos. During our testing, we originally did “talking head’ videos, where it was me speaking directly to the camera, but the file size was quite large, and when we reduced the file size, the quality began to stink. So we changed the format to ‘bouncing ball’ videos; not unlike the kind the info videos are about the courses.  We can reduce the file sizes dramatically and they still look great. And on those occasions when fatigue set in, you can’t see the bags under my eyes!

How long will it take me to go through the courses?

It depends on the individual, but the videos are purposely kept between 2 and 15 minutes each. Why? It’s about digestibility. For instance, in the Fast Start Art Marketing Primer, there are 10 videos that could be watched in an afternoon. However, there’re Action Tasks at the and of each video that we really encourage that you do.  That could be a couple of minutes in some cases, or it could be an ongoing thing, like getting a rider put on a home insurance policy to protect your art business, that takes a couple of days but you needn’t wait for it to begin the next lesson.

How do I access my course material?

After checkout, you’ll be sent to an information page and you’ll be emailed your username and password, and there’s a two-minute video showing how it works in real time.

How do I get to the course after the first time I login?

At the Marketing Tools for Artists website, just go to the My Courses tab under “Courses” tab in the menu bar and login.

Can I watch the courses on my work computer?

You can watch them anywhere you have internet. Just go to the “My Courses” tab under “Courses” tab in the menu bar and login.

Is the fee one time or recurring?

One time!

How does it work if I want to enroll in more courses?

The courses are in what’s called a “member’s area” which is a password protected area of our site. When you purchase a new course, the shopping cart automatically tells the website about it and it’ll be waiting for you under “My Courses”!

Can I use PayPal to buy a course?

Yes indeedy!  See below…

“I’ve gotten great value out of this course. It really speaks to the artist in a no B.S. way that clears the mental clutter, and gets you to pay attention to what you really need to get the ball rolling.”

Fay Wyles

“It was light-hearted, it had charm and humour and kept me engaged the whole time!  I loved it!”

Suzi Campbell

“The first or second lesson got my money back in multiples already. So brilliant…you shook me!”

“Owen’s course literally saved me from a slippery path that I would probably have never recovered from.”
